Waiting for the next Shoe to Drop?

Are you tired of waiting for the next shoe to drop?

Isn’t this a part of life?
Unexpected and unforeseen things happening?
Isn’t it incredible how draining this can be?
Have you noticed you are even relieved sometimes when something bad happens?

If you want to break this habit of anxiously waiting for unknown things to happen, there are two things I would recommend you take a look at doing.

  • The first is to remind yourself that change is the nature of life. If you commit to accepting this (instead of resisting this and wanting it to be different), it will allow you to relate to life in a very proactive way instead of feeling like a victim.
  • The other thing I would recommend doing is making sure that you are taking time to recharge yourself every single day.

Are taking enough time for yourself? Typically, when I ask clients this question, they rattle off the time they have devoted in the past week or two for themselves. After they have finished sharing their list of things they have done I ask them to close their eyes, take a deep breath, and quietly ask themselves that simple question, “Have I taken enough time for myself today?” Just because you have taken some time doesn’t mean it is what you actually need.

At first it is hard for most people to trust that they are hearing the answers when they go within to ask themselves questions.

Consider closing your eyes before you get started with your day and ask, “What one thing can I do today that will feel most supportive to me?” Whatever this thing is that you can do to support yourself, focus with loving intention as you support yourself in this way.

Depending on what is going on in your day to day life, you may need extra time for yourself here or there. Isn’t it funny how you often expect the same self care routine to be enough if all is going well… compared to if you are going through a job or relationship loss? Doesn’t make much sense does it? The amount and type of self care and support you need may (and most likely) will change, depending on the amount of stress happening in your life, your physical state of health, your hormonal cycle, stability of your relationship and job.

When we assume everything is fine is often where things fall apart quickly. @intuitionheals

Have you noticed this?

Have you noticed how easy it is to coast along and take things for granted. When things seem easier in your life is often the best time to deposit more energy into the self care bank than normal. Uncertain and unexpected things happen in life, so why not use the easier time to build up your energy bank account so that when the stress comes you have a padding and support and don’t feel so vulnerable and helpless?

How much of your life do you spend waiting for the shoe to drop in front of you? This anxiety and stress can be greatly lessened when you build up your self care energy routine.

Remember, nothing that you do ever goes unnoticed. Unexpected things are bound to happen around many corners in life.

How can you accept this instead of setting yourself up to be consistently surprised and stressed?

Take a deep breath.
Every single day ask yourself, What once thing can I do to feel most supported today?
Take a deep breath and really listen.

It may sound funny but as you consistently do this, you will notice that you will begin to receive answers. People often tell me they don’t have the time to do this. My response is always the same. If one wants to experience peace one must make the time. Otherwise… we will always be on the seesaw of life… and our nerves will be forever in survival mode and hyper sensitive.

Taking this time everyday will definitely change the way that you experience unforeseen challenges — and is a HUGE yet simple step in creating a much better quality of life for yourself.

You deserve to really relax and enjoy your life.
You really do.
